Union Bay Risk Advisors (“Union Bay” or the “Company”), an independent property & casualty insurance brokerage platform, today announced that it has received a significant growth investment from Thayer Street Partners (“Thayer Street”), a private investment firm that provides flexible growth capital to technology-enabled financial, real estate and business services companies.

The investment enables Union Bay to accelerate and scale its M&A activities and enhance its operational infrastructure as it continues to focus on building a Top 100 national insurance brokerage platform. The Company has also used the proceeds from Thayer Street’s investment to fully repay its credit facility.

Simultaneously with Thayer Street’s investment, Union Bay recently completed its 17th acquisition, expanding its footprint across seven states. The transaction provides the Company with an even greater ability to strategically partner with a broad range of over 150 insurance carriers to deliver tailored property and casualty insurance solutions to families and businesses across the country.

Union Bay Risk Advisors Raises up to $50 Million to Fund New Acquisitions

Union Bay Risk Advisors LLC announced today that it has entered into an agreement with an institutional investor group to finance its acquisition of property & casualty insurance agencies in the Mid-Atlantic, Northeast and Midwest. The financing agreement will be initially for $20 million, and could be as much as $50 million.
Simultaneous with the closing of the financing, Union Bay will close on two additional insurance agency acquisitions, expanding Union Bay’s footprint to New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York and Indiana. Including these two acquisitions, Union Bay will have acquired 6 independent agencies and grown its revenue and EBITDA more than 2.5x in a year.
The management team of Doug Polley, Patrick Sullivan and Justin Faust, and Board Members Buck Ratchford and Katie Cusack will continue to lead the business. Former Columbia Business School adjunct professor, Steven Mandis, will join the Board of Directors. Polley, Ratchford, Cusack and Mandis previously worked together at Goldman Sachs.

Union Bay Acquisition LLC, an aggregator of insurance agencies agent based in Princeton, New Jersey, has acquired Farrell Insurance Associates Inc. of Lansdale, Pennsylvania. Terms were not disclosed.
Jerry Farrell, founder of Farrell Insurance Associates, stated, “We are excited to bring Farrell Insurance Associates to its next level of growth and development by teaming up with Union Bay.” He added, “we are confident that this transaction with Union Bay will benefit all of our stakeholders – both our insureds and our insurance company partners.”
